March 2012

Delta Tau, get excited for the PSE National Convention held on March 13th-March 18th in Indianapolis! 

The early bird registration deadline is $250 until February 21st, 2012. After that date the rate will be $295. So register now!

The 16th Annual Budweiser Wing Fling will be held in Carolina Beach on March 24th, stay tuned for more information during chapter meetings!

                           2010-2011 Events

Nationals 2011 in Orlando, FL

Delta Tau was a success at the PSE National Convention held in Orlando, Florida. Our chapter was proud to take home a series of awards including: First Place Top Sales Project, First Place Top Marketing Project, Top Faculty Advisor, 2nd Place Top Project Manager, and 3rd Place for the Lewis F. Gordon Top Gold Chapter. A special congratulations to VP of Finance, Chris Utesch who came in 5th out of 80 in the Pro-Am Sell-A-thon and Ashley Barnett, who received a $1000 scholarship.
 
 

Annual Budweiser Wing Fling

The 15th Annual Budweiser Wing Fling was held on Saturday, March 26th from 11:30am to 4:00pm at a new location, Cape Fear Blvd in the town of Carolina Beach, North Carolina. The event included three bands: Bag of Toys, Machine Gun, and Tim Elliott and the Wheels and a wing competition among nine area restaurants. There were over 15 corporate sponsors for the event including two local radio stations and RA Jeffrey's Distribution Company. Wing Fling 2011 sold out general admission tickets and VIP tickets prior to the event date.

Annual Silent Auction

In November 2010, Delta Tau members solicited local businesses for donations of products, services and gift cards, and for auction at the Annual Silent Auction held at the Wilmington Convention Center. Participating vendors were provided with advertising and marketing for their business at the event.
The purpose of Silent Auction is to raise money for UNCW scholarships, PSE, and proceeds towards a charitable organization. The 2011 charity which benefited from Silent Auction was Holiday Smiles, a local toy drive that benefits the Salvation Army. This year, Silent Auction raised over $6,000 worth of revenue.

UNCW G.I.V.E.S.

is an annual week long charity drive in which the Delta Tau chapter coordinated with the UNCW Cameron School of Business as well as other student organizations to solicit much needed item donations for four different
charities: Boys and Girls Home of NC, Domestic Violence Shelter and Services, Sunburst Foundation of Wilmington (Partner of Pender County Humane Society), and Good Sheperd. Delta Tau was able to raise $700 worth of donations towards UNCW G.I.V.E.S.

Attractions Books Sales Project

In the Fall of 2010, Delta Tau members were involved in a sales project with the marketing and selling of Attractions and Value Dining Guide coupon books to customers located in the Greater Wilmington area, for a value of $25 per book. The Attractions book featured savings and discounts from 100+ merchants. In collaborative effort, members were able to sell over $3,900 worth of revenue.

Books Across America

In honor of national Read Across America day, on March 2, 2011, Delta Tau members organized a campuswide community service event to collect childrens and young adult books for donation to New Hanover County Public Libraries.

Read Across America is an initiative on reading created by the
National Education Association in observance on the birthday of Dr. Seuss, March 2nd.

Student Rocket Pitch

Delta Tau members Ben Rogers, VP of Marketing 2010-2011 and Chris Utesch, VP of Finance 2010-2011 participated in the Student Rocket Pitch hosted by the UNC Wilmington Entrepreneurship Center. The event featured 8 top UNCW student entrepreneurs whom competed for an $800 cash prize based on their delivery of a five-minute
